Module 1: Transform Your Physical Space into a Healing Sanctuary
This week is not about rules. It’s about preparation. You are preparing not just your body—but your space, your relationships, and your spirit—for transformation. Every checklist becomes a step forward. Every cleared shelf becomes a declaration: “I am ready to have this surgery. I am ready to change my life. I am ready for health. I am ready for transformation.”
Transform your physical space into a healing sanctuary
Your environment shapes your recovery. While you still have energy and mobility, create spaces that will nurture your healing body and transforming spirit.
The Kitchen Reset
Clear counters of trigger foods—this isn’t deprivation. It’s protection. It’s preparation.
Create a dedicated “bariatric station” with your future essentials: small plates, tiny spoons, 2-oz containers, food scale.
Stock your freezer with bone broth, sugar-free popsicles, and protein-rich options. Consult your surgeon’s instructions for plan allowed and recommended options.
Place water bottles strategically throughout your home—hydration reminders everywhere.
Organize supplements where you’ll see them daily (bathroom counter, coffee station).

The Recovery Nest

Set up your bedroom for comfort: extra pillows for propping, heating pad within reach, nightstand stocked with lip balm and bottles of water.
Create clear pathways—no tripping hazards when you’re unsteady.
Install nightlights for those frequent bathroom trips.
Prepare entertainment within arm’s reach: books, tablet, chargers.
Consider a small cooler or dorm refrigerator beside your bed for the first week.
Your Special Spaces
Designate a “feeling spot”—where you’ll process the emotional waves
Create a meditation corner, even if it’s just a comfortable chair in a quiet corner.
Set up a movement area for gentle walking, even if it’s just a cleared path around the first floor of your home.
Prepare a “victory wall” for progress photos and celebrations, because celebrating success is so important. A large corkboard or dry erase board would work great.
This is very important. Prepare a place just for you. You are worth a few square feet of your home made just for you alone. A place to celebrate yourself. A place to feel sad when you need to let go of old feelings. Someplace to have 5 minutes alone to reflect on what you are grateful for that day. Do not make this space in your bedroom. Using the same space will interrupt restorative sleep. Try to find a space in your home that feels good, whether it be cocoon-like or light, bright and breezy. Have some things around you that you love. This is your “warm fuzzy” space. This may even be the very first time you do something nice for yourself. Make it special. YOU ARE WORTH IT!

Just the intentional actions of this preparation get you started in the mindset of success. Prioritizing your needs puts a level of priority in your life that hasn’t been there. A helpful reminder that you are not neglecting the needs of everyone around you, you are making your health a priority so that you can be the most vibrant, active, healthy version of yourself – there for everyone around you…It is not a selfish act to take care of yourself. It is, in fact, the most loving thing you can do. You have let this go on for too long. It’s time to be kind to yourself. You’ve got this! And we are here for every step – walking right beside you. You are not alone and you can do this!
- DO NOT go out and buy 12 cases of protein shakes! It sounds like great planning BUT here’s a nugget to keep in mind. Your taste buds are going to go haywire for a while. What you love right now, might just make you gag after the surgery. The protein shakes we tolerate just fine before surgery, all of a sudden become sickly sweet and the thought of drinking just one more is a death sentence. Don’t waste money. Have a few different ones in your bariatric pantry for those times when a change is needed and you can try them out to see what you prefer at that time.
YOUR JOURNAL
Prepare a journal. Your journal can be a designated notebook or a digital word document. There are journals in stores and online to purchase. It doesn’t need to be fancy. Just designate a place where you can jot down information and feelings. For alot of people, this small act of immortalizing their feelings and things about them is more than enough to keep them on track for change. Have a place that you can go back to when you are at a crossroad that can help you make great decisions.
Storytime…
You have had the most awful day at work and then you come home – the house is a mess, the kids are having temper tantrums, your husband is on his way out the door for bowling night… There is a huge bag of potato chips staring at you from you from the open pantry door. Mmmmm. Crunchy, salty… Potato chips are calling your name.
One of two things are about to happen.
You are going to grab that bag of chips and start munching away while you’re heating up cans of beefaroni for the kids. Those chips are making you happy and ooooh – maybe just a little taste of that beefaroni. Need to make sure it’s not too hot for the kids, right??? La, la, la – days getting better – I got potato chips…
Got dinner on the table, the kids are quiet and eating, you can take a breath. Uh-oh… Not only is that entire bag of potato chips gone, but all of a sudden, you start getting a feeling and it’s not the “happy potato chip” feeling either. You know you’re going to be sick and now you are beating yourself up, feeling like a failure.
OR…
You stop. Send the kids off to play in their rooms and retreat to your sanctuary for 5 minutes. You breathe deeply, letting the day’s stress leave your mind as you step into the rest of your night. You pick up your journal and read the first page – where you started. A reminder of how far you’ve already come. You take a few moments to sit in quiet, planning the kids dinner and then yours. You are ready to go live your life confident and serene – no guilt, no pressure, just calm because you learned these tools in the Transform24 PRO program and you know what you’re doing.
Which scenario are you choosing?
